this original peaceful fox on gold painting is a continuation of the objet d'art series: a series of vintage and antique frames filled with original paintings on hand carved birch wood. the art and the frame are considered one piece, and the art has been created for its particular frame. this particular frame is an antique handmade wood and velvet tramp art frame from the 1800s. originated in hungary.

tramp art was a global art movement from the 1870s-1940s. using simple tools like a pocketknife, small pieces of recycled wood were whittled into geometric patterns. this frame appears to be from the 1880s-1920s. this is a gorgeous antique frame with great detail in wood and velvet. the velvet is a soft olive green. the frame was initially painted pink, but has now faded into a lovely salmon-hue. due to age the frame is delicate and you can see how the velvet pieces are particularly fragile (note how the top velvet piece is slightly warped, separated at the edges from the frame), though they are securely attached to the frame. please handle with care.

for the painting: materials are applied layer by layer and then allowed to dry before the next application. this gives the paintings a great amount of depth and detail. mixed media includes vintage postage stamps, antique paper, handwritten letters from the 1800's, and rose gold leaf. i recommend displaying the painting in indirect light to protect the artwork.

size is approximately 8" in width, and 13.5" in height. the painting is about 1" in depth. all of my paintings look great on their own, or buy a bunch and display them together!
